38. Eva Air — Gudetama
The Taiwanese airline, Eva Air, has decorated one of their planes which takes passengers from Taipei to Tokyo with the popular Sanrio character Gudetama. This figure is depicted as a lackadaisical egg yolk and the interiors of the plane are done in a sunny egg-yolk yellow color featuring items such as cups, cards, and pillows that are all emblazoned with this beloved character.
The other Sanrio icon, Hello Kitty, has also been showcased in various ways throughout the world including on the Eva Air plane, the Japanese bullet train, and even a lounge in Taipei Airport.
39. Flying Droids
All Nippon Airways has created a full-scale plane with a special design dedicated to the character R2D2 from the Star Wars films. The artist behind the project gave it the distinctive appearance of the beloved robot from the movies. Even though Star Wars enthusiasts will have to wait a while longer to get their own plane, this one is certainly a success.
40. Thai Airways – Royal Barge
In order to honor the monarchy of Thailand, Thai Airways painted two historic royal ships on each side of three of its airplanes. The vessels were extended from the wings of the plane, with small painted figures included to give a realistic and traditional Thai look.
