13. Singapore Airlines – Tropical Megatop
At the end of the last decade of the twentieth century, Singapore Airlines chose to decorate two of their Boeing 747s with a unique paint job they called the “Tropical Megatop” to promote their new first class and business class services. Disaster struck, however, when one of these planes, known as Singapore Airlines flight 006, crashed in Taiwan en route to Las Vegas, costing the lives of eighty-three people. As a result, the other plane of the same design was hastily given a new paint job, so the “Tropical Megatop” no longer exists.
